DERMAL FILLER ADVICE & AFTERCARE
Before any treatment is carried out, I offer a full and thorough consultation to help you determine which treatment is most suitable to treat your areas of concern and to achieve the look you desire. HA dermal filler treatments are temporary and repeated treatments are required to maintain your results. In some cases, multiple treatments are required to achieve your desired look and a bespoke treatment plan will be set for you.
PRE - TREATMENT
1-2 weeks prior to treatment please avoid blood thinners, fish oils, aspirin, St John’s wort, ibuprofen, and any other blood thinning medications.
1 week before you can begin to take herbal anti-inflammatories such as arnica.
2-3 days prior please AVOID ALCOHOL.
24hrs prior AVOID EXERCISE.
POST – TREATMENT
AVOID touching the area or applying any products for a minimum of 8hours post treatment. After a light mineral makeup may be applied and the area can gently be washed using soap and water.
DO NOT apply any products containing ALPHA HYDROXYL
Until the initial swelling and redness has subsided please DO NOT expose the area to any extreme heat or cold – including consumption of hot drinks, sunbeds (min 3 days), sunbathing or any extreme cold such as ice directly on the area.
You may apply a cold compress if needed NOT FROZEN or ICE
1-2 days AVOID all blood thinners listed above.
DO NOT EXERCISE for at least 48hours post treatment as this can cause filler migration.
Keep hydrated as filler holds onto 1000x its own weight in water and can help to settle and soften the product.
MASSAGE beginning from the following day, if you practitioner has advised you to massage then please begin massaging the area using the technique shown to you. This will ensure that no lumps will form where the product has been placed.
AVOID flying for 24hrs
AVOID dental treatment for 24hrs.
You may experience redness, swelling and bruising at the treatment site, you may even feel lumps at the site the injection was inserted. This is completely normal and should subside within 1-2 weeks of treatment.
If you suffer with cold sores (herpes) please be aware that lip fillers are likely to induce flare ups due to trauma to the area at the injection site. You may contact your GP and they may prescribe you with a prescription medication such as acyclovir to help with this.
Chances an allergic reaction are extremely rare when being treated with hyaluronic acid, however there is no guarantee that this will not occur.
Please remember that we can only enhance natural features, it is NOT possible to completely change them with fillers alone. Any treatment should be viewed as an improvement not a cure, its is not possible to create a desired look if your anatomy does not allow.
You must always keep in mind that our faces are not symmetrical and on some occasions an asymmetry issue may be improved but not always fully correctable using dermal filler. On rare occasions it could be the case that filler would have the opposite effect to what you desire, however your practitioner would advise you of this at the time of your treatment.
